And it was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.
Revelation 19:8 NASB

Clothe herself… The Bride must take hold of the wedding garment and dress her being. It is her responsibility. Hers to do. Not by ‘doing good’ but by living Christ. Good deeds and righteous deeds lie in diametrical opposition.

Fine linen, ‘holy deeds’ of the saints. The great secret, the wonderful mystery of the ‘fine linen’ is this: I wear Christ’s deeds by letting Him perform my life’s responsibilities. Whatever Christ does in practical outworking are ‘righteous’ deeds. I wear them. I do not ‘do’ them. My efforts from the flesh are filthy, never to be clean, never to be pure of motive or source.

I am a clay vessel, a temple, to contain Another – to live by Another. That Holy Other is my performance, from the least daily deed to the highest holy act. To wear this Holy Covering, golden and splendid, I must live in naked abandon to Him, stripped of my self-faith, my sweating effort and pompous ability…shorn of every lying, struggling facade. The righteous deeds are simply what Christ does in and through me.

The King’s daughter is all glorious within…

The Wedding Attire is worn “within” where only God can see. It is…Christ in you, the hope of Glory. There are no other righteous deeds. Only One in the universe is holy and all He does – from the lowly carving of the carpenter to the raising of the dead – is pleasing to the Father. There is only One life of purity, only One Person of holy dignity. “This is My Beloved Son in whom I am well pleased” (Mt. 3:17 NASB; Mt. 17:5; Mk. 1:11; Lk. 3:22).

One Life alone pleases God. Still so, and still possible. If the Father looks within us and sees His son performing our very living, He is well pleased. Even now. And these ONLY are “righteous deeds.” Nothing FOR Christ. Only FROM Christ. The secret of the Christ life is this: there is only One Life that can possibly, remotely, minutely, eternally, permanently satisfy an Infinite Holy God…and that is His very own Life!

For to me, to live is Christ…
Phil. 1:21 NASB

The impossible demands of God are satisfied by God. The power, the energy, the integrity required in this life—all rest on the character of the Son of God and His power to be you.

Sin is repulsive to God; that, we know. What we do not know is that ‘human good’ is equally filthy in His sight. Our striving efforts to do and be like Christ appear to the Father’s eyes as garments: filthy, bloody rags of unborn fruitlessness. Rags that smell of death, fit only for burning. This is our best effort! This is our religious “doing.” What we deem highly valuable – our service and our trying – is to God heinous and repulsive.

For we have all become like who is unclean (ceremonially, like a leper), and all our righteousness, (our best deeds of rightness and justice) is like filthy rags or a polluted garment;we all fade like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away (far from God’s favor, hurrying us toward destruction).
Isa. 64:6 AMP

Jesus’ very life is God ‘s demand and His, the only deeds He accepts. This Lamb, this King of glory stoops to be mother/father to your children, laborer, minister, spouse. He is your duty fulfilled. He is your work accomplished. He also is…your character.

But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption, so that, just as it is written, “Let Him who boasts, boast in the Lord.”
1 Cor. 1:30 NASB

He is the gift of righteousness, and living out and living IN that gift is to wear HIM. You have Him. You have His righteousness. Only problem? Live it. Amazing provision…

This is the wedding garment for the Marriage of the Lamb: Christ Himself!

But clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ…
Rom. 13:14 AMP

For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.
Romans 3:27 NIV

Clothe: (ENDUO) endue, signifies to enter into, get into, as into clothes, put on (Vine’s Expository Dictionary).

Refers to menstrual cloths.
