About The Mystery of Discipleship Series
Jesus’ closest disciples were trusted to speak for Him and tell us His story. All are called to the mystery of discipleship, but the choice is ours.
Matthew 28:19-20 ESV
Go then and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you…
Jesus spoke this command to disciples. Not the crowds, not believers. To the disciples only.
There is a difference between a believer and a disciple.
Only a disciple can make disciples, and that happens by this great promise of the Lord: His presence WITH His disciples. And it is His presence that ‘makes’ a disciple. I cannot orchestrate a disciple, nor choose who will be one! I am often shocked by who the Lord touches, sometimes people I don’t even know…or notice.
How awesome is our influence! How crucial is our discipleship! Only disciples ‘make’ disciples!
This ‘great commission’ rests on disciples reproducing disciples. And to disciples is the earthshaking promise of the certain and unfailing presence of the Lord.
The manifest presence of the Lord!
This is the heart, the power, the very mystery of making disciples of all nations.
