Obedience is not just a reflexive performance of God’s will. It is richer than we know, and its power is known by too few. Would you be one of them?
As I rode home at the end of the weekend, I sat staring out the window of the car. The wonderful prayer partners who had traveled with me were talking but I wasn’t listening. I looked down at my open Bible and saw Deuteronomy 28:47-48.
“Because you did not serve the Lord your God with joy and a glad heart, for the abundance of all things; therefore you shall serve your enemies whom the Lord will send against you, in hunger, in thirst, in nakedness, and in the lack of all things; and He will put an iron yoke on your neck until He has destroyed you.”
And God’s voice exploded in my heart. I understood.
