About Let Series
LET. Wielded by the Holy Spirit, this tiny word had a huge impact on Martha’s life, and the adventure can be yours, too, if you just LET God be GOD.
2 Corinthians 3:18 KJV
But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord…
David Wilkerson wrote: “And the apostle quickly adds, ‘Therefore seeing we have this ministry’ (2 Corinthians 4:1). Paul makes it clear that beholding the face of Christ is a ministry we all must devote ourselves to.”
Of all the ‘names’ of ministry, Wilkerson is one of the very, very few who recognized that our ministry to Christ, above all possibilities and beyond every consideration, is to fix our gaze on Him.
Don Nelson, my dear brother and Carole’s beloved husband, said something to me from which I will never recover. More than once, he would look at me intently and say, “Martha, if you don’t sit with the Lord, there will be no Shulamite Ministries.”
Don would always say to ‘sit with the Lord.’ It was his way to express gazing at the Lord. At times – more than I did – Don understood passionately that a ministry only comes from and out of that ministry to Christ. And he charged me to keep that essential ministry or there would be nothing of substance or fruit.
Funny thing, he knew that personally because he would often say, “I sat with the Lord and…” And through all our tears at his passing, I would say with wonder, “Now Don is sitting with the Lord!”
