About Let Series
LET. Wielded by the Holy Spirit, this tiny word had a huge impact on Martha’s life, and the adventure can be yours, too, if you just LET God be GOD.
Romans 8:5-6 NLT
Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.
Most of us follow the lead of our mind, wandering down any worthless path it takes. The mind left without a direction will go down to the ruts of the flesh.
The mind has only two options, two opposing worlds!
First there is flesh. What is the flesh? Primal human nature – willful, silly and fruitless. The realm of death.
Then there is the world of the Spirit. What is Spirit? God. God’s realm is now wide open to you, the realm of the brilliant, the wondrous and unknown. The realm of life and peace.
‘Set your mind.’ It’s your mind to direct, to capture to the realm of YOUR choice, and you do so BY choice. How little we comprehend that terrible and glorious gift called ‘choice.’ We steer life by the wheel of our own deciding, with entire control of our destination.
Just choose your realm and look up.
(From Adoration, “The Gaze of the Soul,” p. 121.)
Mary gathered the fragments of her scattered sanity, left the complexity of logic, the endless boredom of her predictable self, and in simplicity, with single focus gazed on Jesus.
