About Law of Liberty Series

The Law of the Spirit isn't a new set of rules or method that you must perform - it's all done for you. What is this Law of Liberty all about?

Acts 7:55-57 AMP
But he (Stephen), full of the Holy Spirit and controlled by Him, gazed into heaven and saw the glory (the splendor and majesty) of God, and Jesus standing at God’s right hand;

And he said, Look! I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing at God’s right hand! But they raised a great shout and put their hands over their ears and rushed together upon him.

Stephen was given the high privilege of martyrdom, the second one to be killed in the first century church. But the heavens were open for him and I suspect he died as many martyrs did—in ecstasy.

Stephen, by constant practice, was controlled by the Spirit even in the hour of crisis. The man was ready for anything, because in all situations, he was controlled by the Spirit. An open heaven and vision of the throne are the privilege of those who surrender to the Spirit. The Holy Spirit sustained and carried him even in his dying, then named him as one of the great heroes of the faith for all eternity.

To be Spirit-filled carries the price of rejection, cruel treatment and lying accusations and…dying. But God’s favor on the one who is controlled by the Spirit is an amazing outpouring of His pleasure.

When the Holy Spirit controls you, you can be what you are not and never could be. The Spirit forms and lives the life of the Son of God, and Stephen’s forgiveness was the expression of Christ Himself through the Spirit. “And falling on his knees, he cried out loudly, Lord, fix not this sin upon them. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.”
