We like the familiar by thinking it's 'all there is.' God is the Creator, exploding with imagination and bursting with plans, unexpected and beyond our dreams. Are we ready? Will we receive the new?
Jeremiah 31:31-32 NASB
“Behold, days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, not like the covenant which I made with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, although I was a husband to them,” declares the Lord.
The basis of Jewish faith lay in the covenants of God, but they were conditional on humanity’s response. So in man’s failure to perform his part, he never completely enjoyed the promises of God. But a future, everlasting covenant was prophesied by Jeremiah and Ezekiel.
The Lord Jesus Christ brought that everlasting covenant, God’s new agreement with His created mankind. In this new covenant, God promised to DO ALL, and our only part was to receive by believing. No performance, no holiness was required—for such is not possible to humanity.
Hebrews 9:15 NKJV
And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant…
