About What’s In A Name? Series

What's in a name? Names identify, explain, and serve to distinguish one from another. What do God's names reveal to us about Him, coming from Him?

Devotional

Genesis 17:1
“Walk before Me…”

That word ‘before’ is fascinating. The basic root means ‘to turn.’

Abram had heard God promise him that which was his heart’s longing. The man’s heart had been formed for fatherhood, but he had no child to fulfill his deep-rooted destiny.

Such was Abram’s passion that he turned down the road of his own impatient solution but left God in the process. God waited like a Prodigal Father until Abram hit the end of his independent paths. Then Almighty spoke: “Turn, Abram. Come back to Me in a new and deeper dependence.”

Humanity is ever turning down a treacherous slope, but at the bottom of our crash, God is mighty enough to turn us back to His waiting arms.
