About Law of Liberty Series

The Law of the Spirit isn't a new set of rules or method that you must perform - it's all done for you. What is this Law of Liberty all about?

Devotional

The Lord Jesus has taken me back to the issue of the Law and freedom, so I want to share some insights that are – as usual – from my walk with Him.

Romans 8:2 NASB
For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and of death.

Adam and Eve refused the simple law of God: “do not eat from the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil.”

So they made up their own law. From Eden till now, mankind has been a lawmaker for himself as well as for everyone and everything. We don’t see our expectations and demands as LAW.

The world is filled with the laws of mankind and they are formed by the sliding scale of whoever is in power. And in addition, we live by our individual laws, some of which we inherited and others we wrote ourselves. “Oughts” and “shoulds” and “this is how it’s done.” How we love to live making laws! How fully we believe in the validity of “our laws.” Living by law is the food for pride.

But we are diminished and imprisoned by such man-made laws. Only the Law of the Spirit, that which the Spirit directs and empowers, is the place of reality and fulfillment.
