About Rule and Reign Like Daniel Series
Daniel believed in God as Ruler, so he brought Heaven’s Rule into his earthly government and heathen captors. Do you rule and reign like Daniel did?
Daniel determined in his heart that he would not defile himself with the king’s rich and dainty food or by drinking the wine…

Daniel came to his first crisis – the test of Babylonian dominance versus God’s standard. The food of Babylon was offered before every meal to idols, and Daniel had to avoid it or else he would come under the demonic powers of Babylon.
Restrictions of food were specific under the laws of the Old Testament [and rescinded by Peter’s vision in Acts]. Daniel had to abide by those laws as a matter of obedience and relationship with God.
Eden’s test was about eating. Adam and Eve ate outside God’s restriction. Reckless eating is ever going to be an evidence of rebellion. Every obsession over food or substance, even a focus to abstain, is idolatry. Most addictions have to do with something to ‘taste and feel.’
Above all that, food can be the indulgence of flesh and self by which we lose our destiny and spiritual reward. It’s a serious matter down to this day. Paul said that he ‘buffeted his body.’
Daniel points the way to an open heaven that is the reward.
The Lord Jesus is able to subdue and solve the matter entirely.
But take heed to yourselves and be on your guard, lest your hearts be overburdened and depressed (weighed down) with the giddiness and headache and nausea of self indulgence, drunkenness…lest that day come upon you suddenly like a trap or a noose.
