About The Mystery of Discipleship Series
Jesus’ closest disciples were trusted to speak for Him and tell us His story. All are called to the mystery of discipleship, but the choice is ours.
1 Peter 3:18-19 AMPC
You must know (recognize) that you were redeemed (ransomed) from the useless (fruitless) way of living inherited by tradition from (your) forefathers, not with corruptible things (such as) silver and gold,
But [you were purchased] with the precious blood of Christ (the Messiah), like that of a [sacrificial] lamb without spot or blemish.
Everything in God is seen, not attained. “It is finished.” What is? Everything.
My freedom from fallen humanity (my own and my ancestors) has been accomplished. The enjoyment of that freedom from human frailty is already mine. I merely agree to God’s demand of His rightful place as Father, Mother—ALL. I die to family as the Spirit leads. Only then do I see that it was all accomplished on the cross. I WAS severed from human family—it simply waits for me to accept it.
Belonging to God and His Family
You have been ‘bought’ and chosen. You are already taken out of the captivating sins of your human inheritance: the weakness and shame, the pride and ignorance that resides in your soul – from the womb.
When I was buried in baptism with Christ, I died to my identity as sinner, as daughter, as mother. I died with Him to the old life in EVERY aspect. And I was raised with Him in resurrection to enjoy belonging to God and His family. In that divine family, I share His likeness with you and you display His likeness to me. Yet that’s only possible when we will allow God to bring us to and through this strange “hate” of family and into His fold as disciples.
This is not some unattainable ideal! It is real…
