About What’s In A Name? Series

What's in a name? Names identify, explain, and serve to distinguish one from another. What do God's names reveal to us about Him, coming from Him?

Genesis 17:5 AMPC
Nor shall your name any longer be Abram [high, exalted father]; but your name shall be Abraham [father of a multitude], for I have made you the father of many nations.

The man who wanted just one son could contain only that small vision. When we are so strong in the flesh of Self, we are actually weak in faith, deaf to wonder and blind to eternity.

Abram was an important man in earthly significance. His son would be a prince of stature and wealth. High, exalted father but still only of earth. Natural but not miraculous!

The new name, Abraham, speaks of a destiny that had no limitation, no end – one that would cover the earth.
