About Meeting Adonai Series
God moves radically toward us and deals mightily with us when we see and receive Him as Adonai. Meeting Adonai, Owner and Master, changes everything.
(Reading Judges 6:17-40)
Such was Gideon’s weakness that he needed signs from God in every phase.
Gideon asked for the angel of the Lord to remain as a sign and proof of God’s favor. The “angel” remained. Then Gideon asked for the sign of the fleece, not once but twice, and his terms were met by God. The angel of the Lord even gave Gideon an assignment to visit the camp of his enemy as a sign that the victory was already accomplished.
Never did the Lord Adonai exhibit impatience or frustration with Gideon’s unbelief. God gave him every assurance he requested, and more.
One who has the courage of living weak – of vulnerable dependence on Adonai – evokes mercy from the Father for that very human weakness. And the Great Master offers all comfort and support…a divine condescension not given to the one who won’t NEED to be owned.
