About God With Us Series

We are ever in danger of abandoning Christ Himself for our idea of Him. Leave the familiar behind and meet the surprising Immanuel, God with Us!

Devotional

Philippians 3:8 NASB
I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord…

Paul wrote this after a long journey of intimacy with the Lord, having traveled and been imprisoned. Yet he wrote as if he had yet to fully know Him.

The greatest spiritual danger lies in intimacy with God; it fosters a false comfort that we know Him. Then we close our eyes to leave the Lord Himself for our “idea” about Him and our “memory” of Him.

To discover Christ afresh requires a return to wonder, a recovery of innocence. And that demands the abandon of familiarity with Him. We need a clean page for the Spirit’s new inscription…a letting go of the boxes we have made to contain the Uncontainable One.
