About The Mystery of Discipleship Series
Jesus’ closest disciples were trusted to speak for Him and tell us His story. All are called to the mystery of discipleship, but the choice is ours.
Luke 14:26 ESV
If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple.
Your heritage from family is the Adamic nature with all its enmity with God. That nature is incurable. It is destructive at its core and selfish in its motives. Any relationship based on that nature brings an inherent disloyalty to God and a built-in delusion of self-idolatry. It is that nature, that human fallen existence, that Jesus calls us to hate along with the relationships that foster it and call it up from the grave.
Human ties are earthly ties. Human relationships are flesh to flesh. Soul can only meet with soul…and spirit alone can commune with spirit. The absolute severance from every natural human-born relationship, even including with yourself, is really a complete disconnect of FLESH for a life lived solely out of the new spirit by the indwelling Christ.
