LET. Wielded by the Holy Spirit, this tiny word had a huge impact on Martha’s life, and the adventure can be yours, too, if you just LET God be GOD.
Devotional
Again, Jesus said to the Twelve:
John 14:27 AMPC
Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you.
Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.]
Though the disciples listened, they did not believe that the Son of God could die and especially not to die in such helplessness, resisting nothing of the horrors inflicted on Him. And when they witnessed these things, they were overcome with fear and sorrow. And betrayal.
They were given divine peace – the very peace of Jesus Himself – to live through those terrible hours, but they could not receive it. In the hour of His arrest and suffering, they could not believe such horror was in perfect order and more…that there was no collapse of the Father’s sovereign power.
(Oh! And I would have been the same, wouldn’t you?)
There was never a problem outside of God’s will and Jesus’ dominion.
