About All Things New Series
We like the familiar by thinking it's 'all there is.' God is the Creator, exploding with imagination and bursting with plans, unexpected and beyond our dreams. Are we ready? Will we receive the new?
Matthew 9:16 NIV
No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, for the patch will pull away from the garment, making the tear worse.
Jesus first creates the image of clothing. Second, He draws the picture of wineskins. Clothing is external; wine is internal.
We have a new garment: Christ Himself by virtue of our being IN HIM in the NEW birth. We have a new life, by virtue of HIS being IN us – the indwelling of Christ.
The self-made identity of fig leaves, the temporary blood-skins, are gone. Let them go! Christ is the NEW identity we wear and exhibit before the world. He is our covering, our NEW expression, our NEW self. Amazing!
