About The Mystery of Discipleship Series
Jesus’ closest disciples were trusted to speak for Him and tell us His story. All are called to the mystery of discipleship, but the choice is ours.
Matthew 10:34-37 ESV
Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. And a person’s enemies will be those of his own household. Whoever loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.
These words of Jesus turn to another side of family—the issue of love. He will Himself bring the sword against human ties and the test will come at His hand. The test being: Who do you love? Whose love do you love?
But the real issue revealed here is not our poor human loves, but the great consuming love of Christ. His is a Love that loves you entirely and wants your focus, your loyalty, your whole heart – that you would live and breathe His love for YOU!
