When Gideon obeyed God’s separation from the fearful and the lustful, he saw a miraculous defeat of enemy forces, which were “as numerous as locusts” (Judges 7:12).
God’s way of victory lies in surrender not human might. Those surrendered to Adonai are all under the same Master, so they can act together in unison as “one man.” One mighty man, having One Head.
