About What’s In A Name? Series

What's in a name? Names identify, explain, and serve to distinguish one from another. What do God's names reveal to us about Him, coming from Him?

Devotional

Jeremiah 32:27 NASB
“Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh; is anything too difficult for Me?”

Elohim creates nature and El Shaddai transcends nature. Adonai rules and El Shaddai overrules.

Abram and Sarah were at the end of their hope. Their hope was only in the normal, natural human way of having a child. But they were both dead, infertile. So they were hopeless.

NOW they were dependent!

And the curse of Eden’s independence was bypassed. They needed to know El Shaddai, the One Who is sufficient for His own plans, capable of creating His own promise as a complete miracle.

This God of power over Dead Impossibilities doesn’t WANT our help. He wants our entire life dependence to rest on His perfect power.

El Shaddai – I am sufficient in Myself.
