LET. Wielded by the Holy Spirit, this tiny word had a huge impact on Martha’s life, and the adventure can be yours, too, if you just LET God be GOD.
Devotional
Hebrews 4:1 ESV
Therefore, while the promise of entering His rest still stands, let us fear lest any of you should seem to have failed to reach it.
Let us fear? To miss or fall short of the so-great salvation of Christ would be a loss too great to bear. It is a loss of your destiny and a diminishing of your eternal reward. So here we are called to a unique ‘let.’ The only one of its kind. Jesus condemned all fear in His disciples but here the Holy Spirit warns very strongly, “Let us fear” the failure to enter His rest.
In the Greek, that word fear is not a mild word. It means “a state of severe distress, aroused by intense concern for impending pain, danger, evil, etc.”
