About Finding the New You Series

Revelation is given in the practical places. Every life experience is buried treasure for discovery of who God is and what Jesus has given: a whole, new YOU.

(Reading Ephesians 4:22)

The NIV reads correctly: put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires. The word corruption in Greek is PHTHEIRO and implies a progressive downward spiral: “morally decaying, on the way to final ruin” (Vine’s Expository Dictionary).

This fallen nature within does not progress to become better. In fact, it progresses constantly to greater and lower moral decay. When this nature is left alone to have its way, you will be destroyed by your own “old self.” Astonishing!

To understand this enables you to put it off and lay it aside!
