LET. Wielded by the Holy Spirit, this tiny word had a huge impact on Martha’s life, and the adventure can be yours, too, if you just LET God be GOD.
Devotional
Hebrews 4:ll
ESV Therefore let us strive to enter the rest.
AMP Let us therefore be zealous and exert ourselves and strive diligently to enter the rest of God, to know and experience it for ourselves.
The Greek meaning of ‘strive’ is “to do something with intense effort and motivation; earnest and diligent.”
Once I heard Devern Fromke speak in person. He spoke with the most gracious manner. He gave the truth but he didn’t pressure or beg, he was simply openhanded and you could take it or leave it.
I sensed he was free of ‘making it happen.’ Free of anxiety, free even of the responsibility for its effect. Only God could touch the spirit of the hearers. Only God could make the message understood. He offered his message in the most relaxed manner with seemingly no worry or effort. His restful peace was visible.
I believe he was a rare servant who had done the work to enter the rest of God.
Isn’t that a contradiction? Do the work to enter the rest?
