About What’s In A Name? Series

What's in a name? Names identify, explain, and serve to distinguish one from another. What do God's names reveal to us about Him, coming from Him?

Reading Matthew 6:19-34
Verses 31, 32 NASB
Do not worry then, saying ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.

El Shaddai is derived from a word that means ‘field.’ In an agrarian (agricultural) society, all things came from the field: food, grain, meat, wool, linen, cotton for clothing. Wood for shelter. Metal for tools. And so on.

The FIELD is the source for all humanity!

In Jesus’ time, the field was the center of all supply. And it still is! We are far removed from the field as being the source and supply of all aspects of living and practical need. However, every human being lives out from the ‘field.’
