About What’s In A Name? Series

What's in a name? Names identify, explain, and serve to distinguish one from another. What do God's names reveal to us about Him, coming from Him?

Devotional

The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him” (Genesis 2:18).

Then God formed the beasts of the field and birds of the sky and brought them to ‘the man.’

Genesis 2:20 NASB
The man gave names to all the cattle, and to the birds of the sky, and to every beast of the field but for Adam there was not found a helper suitable for him (Lit – corresponding to him).

In most translations, this is the first time the name of ‘the man’ is mentioned. Adam. His name just appears, at the end of his work and the beginning of his loneliness.
