About What’s In A Name? Series

What's in a name? Names identify, explain, and serve to distinguish one from another. What do God's names reveal to us about Him, coming from Him?

Balaam, Israel’s prophet, was seduced by the enemy, King Balak of Moab, to curse Israel. They were so powerful that Balak was afraid to attack.

Balaam went on his donkey to the wilderness and saw Israel camping by tribes. And the Spirit of God came upon him. Balaam had “the vision of the Almighty” (Numbers 24:4).

This prophet, weak in character as he was, saw the overwhelming blessing and abundance of El Shaddai on Israel: the great fruitfulness of the lands and the terrible might of Israel’s power. And when he opened his mouth, he could not curse what El Shaddai had so bountifully blessed.

Numbers 24:9 NASB
Blessed is everyone who blesses you, And cursed is everyone who curses you.
