About The Mystery of Discipleship Series
Jesus’ closest disciples were trusted to speak for Him and tell us His story. All are called to the mystery of discipleship, but the choice is ours.
Galatians 6:14-16 NIV
May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me and I to the world. Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is a new creation. Peace and mercy to all who follow this rule, even to the Israel of God.
You boast about what you love, you point to what helps you, you brag about what sets you free. The Jews boasted in circumcision. Paul boasted in the Cross. Christ on the cross was his liberty from himself and the entrance into the new creation. Peace and mercy were the result of the cross embraced.
Peace and mercy! What we so need from God, lavishly given by and through the cross. Paul came to know the two aspects of the cross:
- What Christ gained and gave us at Calvary, and
- The power of the cross in its current dynamic to bring forth the new creation that Christ bought.
