About What’s In A Name? Series
What's in a name? Names identify, explain, and serve to distinguish one from another. What do God's names reveal to us about Him, coming from Him?
What’s the purpose of knowing this strange name El Shaddai, that means ‘field’ and ‘breast?’ To see Him! To in some small degree comprehend His nature.
We need to be shocked into seeing Who our God really is! Most of us believe that God is either poor or stingy. Or that my need is too big for His supply. Or He didn’t come through when I needed Him. Maybe we had a parent like that and we have transferred that miserliness to God.
Why Can’t We See Our Shocking God?
The problem is in us! Not only are we ignorant of His true being, but our very unbelief rests in the proofs before us. His supply goes unnoticed and unacknowledged. And we close our hearts to the great gifts He wants to bestow…
We have yet to comprehend our God Who has everything and gives it all to us. He withheld nothing, even His dearest possession, His only Son!
For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life.
