About The Mystery of Discipleship Series
Jesus’ closest disciples were trusted to speak for Him and tell us His story. All are called to the mystery of discipleship, but the choice is ours.
Reading Luke 14:28-33 NASB
For which one of you when he wants to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the cost…?
Or what king, when he sets out to meet another king in battle, will not first sit down and consider whether he is strong enough…?
So then, none of you can be My disciple who does not give up all his own possessions.
The Lord Jesus presents the calling of the disciple: building and battling. No need to consider the cost because you cannot anticipate the adventure to which you are committing. It is a blank contract. You choose to sign on as a disciple and the Lord fills in the conditions as you go. All the way through, it is YOUR choice.
In all integrity, Jesus Himself gives you the cost of building and battling: everything you are and everything you have. The cost is total. And you will only finish the building and you will only win the battle if you give ALL.
For the builder…your possessions, your self.
For the warrior…your existence, your body.
The cost is everything.
