And Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; now he was a priest of God Most High.
Genesis 14:18 NASB

Aaron and his sons were commissioned as priests by Yah Veh, and they made offerings and sacrifices to Yah Veh. They did not yet know El Elyon – the Most High God. This was a new revealing of God by a name unknown before.

El Elyon is the Most High. He has the highest place, ruling above and over all things.

For the Lord Most High excites terror, awe, and dread; He is a great King over all the earth.
Psalm 47:2 AMPC

Melchizedek was priest of El Elyon, and he is designated as a higher priest than all of Aaron’s line, a priesthood that lasts forever. This is Christ, King of Kings (see Hebrews 7).
