About The Mystery of Discipleship Series
Jesus’ closest disciples were trusted to speak for Him and tell us His story. All are called to the mystery of discipleship, but the choice is ours.
Luke 14:27 NASB
Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.
28. …he wants to build a tower
30. …this man began to build
I am so excited to come back to the two activities of disciples: building and fighting.
Disciples are impelled to build – “he wants to build.”
Through Love and the Cross, disciples are transformed into builders. Disciples are builders! And the building is…the Church. Not A church, but THE Church—that wonderful, transcendent connection of born-again ones that Christ Himself links into a Body of His design. One here, several there, some meeting together—this is Church. Church is formed by Christ’s Love and connected by the mysterious design of God.
But KNOW THIS, dear readers! Disciples don’t build a ministry for themselves, for their ambitions. The saints are not to be ‘used’ to build a ministry FOR a leader. The disciples build the saints INTO a ministry to the Lord. By the Spirit, disciples build saints into…Church!
The Lord builds His own Church; no human can build what is Christ’s Church. But disciples are instruments of His passion, tools of His chiseling, laborers of His fittings…vessels of His heart and listeners to His praying.
