About What’s In A Name? Series

What's in a name? Names identify, explain, and serve to distinguish one from another. What do God's names reveal to us about Him, coming from Him?

Genesis 2:20 AMP
…for Adam there was not found a helper meet, (suitable, adapted, complimentary) for him.

Since the Lord God allowed no pain in Eden, Adam was put into a deep sleep while a rib was taken from his side.

Genesis 2:22 NASB
The Lord God fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man.

With exuberance, Adam recognized this one as part of his very being.

Genesis 2:23 NASB
“This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.”

But ‘Woman’ was not a proper name. It simply meant female! Adam was acknowledging her gender, but not yet her identity.
