About The Mystery of Discipleship Series
Jesus’ closest disciples were trusted to speak for Him and tell us His story. All are called to the mystery of discipleship, but the choice is ours.
Luke 22:31-32 NASB
Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded permission to sift you like wheat; but I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and you, when once you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.
Sifted like wheat. Wheat was tossed into the air and the chaff was blown off the kernel of wheat. God allows the enemy to remove the chaff. Chaff is that crusty shell that hides the life of God under the bushel of SELF.
Personal warfare is crisis that exposes how much self is left, and warfare is one thing for Satan, another from God’s view. You decide who wins. Paul used his suffering to die and die and obtain the LIFE of wheat and not chaff. Once God has the bare wheat it can be ground and turned into bread that could be served to others. This is what Jesus meant when He said that once you are converted, minister to your brothers. Out of your warfare and from your victory, you become a vessel of Bread to feed the Church with the Life of Christ.
