Obedience is not just a reflexive performance of God’s will. It is richer than we know, and its power is known by too few. Would you be one of them?
When human minds read “hear the voice of God,” we register that it merely means to hear. That’s the end of the matter. “I heard.”
We are, by Adamic nature, without a compelling to DO what the Voice directed. The Hebrew language, however, implies more than passive listening. It infers a dynamic, wakeful, vigilant DOING.
Deuteronomy 28:1 in the Amplified Bible states the intent of the word ‘listen’: If you will listen diligently to the voice of the Lord your God, being watchful to do all His commandments which I command you this day…
The Exegesis Bible (Literal translation): If in hearkening, thou shall hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord Yah Veh…to observe, guard, and to do – work – all His commandments…
