About What’s In A Name? Series

What's in a name? Names identify, explain, and serve to distinguish one from another. What do God's names reveal to us about Him, coming from Him?

Devotional

Into that perfect Eden came the terrible mistake
that seemed so reasonable. The wife made a choice, independent of God and of Adam.
And Adam joined her deception, though he was not himself deceived
(2 Timothy 2:14).

Genesis 3:9-13 NASB
The man said, “The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me from the tree, and I ate.”
And the woman said, “The serpent deceived me and I ate.”

The man blamed the woman and the woman blamed the serpent,
both inherently blaming God Himself. In those verses, after the fall, the first couple were not named.

Their unique identity born of union with God had died,
and they were simply ‘the man’ and ‘the woman.’
