About The Mystery of Discipleship Series
Jesus’ closest disciples were trusted to speak for Him and tell us His story. All are called to the mystery of discipleship, but the choice is ours.
Ephesians 1:16-18 ESV
“…remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened…”
There is a capacity for seeing in the heart. To radically follow Christ is a matter of seeing Him. The failure to see the Lord will be the failure to surrender to Him utterly. Thousands in Israel witnessed His miracles, but the eyes of their hearts did not see the Son of God.
The religious were totally blind. Sinners saw Him from their need (like Mary Magdelene). The truthful recognized Him from the heart (like Nathaniel). And the Lord Jesus sovereignly interrupted Saul as he went, striking him blind so he could see from his heart.
Discipleship depends on seeing the Lord. To the degree you repent, to the extent you die to self – to that depth and height, you will see Jesus from the eyes of your heart and…be forever captured.
