Reading John 2:13-22 NASB
19. Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up again.”
21. But He was speaking of the temple of His body.
Jesus was the finish of everything God Himself had ordained and commanded. Because He was the fulfillment and meaning of everything, He made every previous thing irrelevant.
The Second Temple was the center of Jewish worship, the meaning of their existence. It was the place where God came to earth. Jesus declared the end of the Second Temple, the closure and finish of its usefulness to God. There was a new temple.
The Living Temple, in which God dwelt, walked among them and made the Stone Building obsolete.
