No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will stand by and be devoted to the one and despise and be against the other. You cannot serve God and mammon (deceitful riches, money, possessions, or whatever is trusted in).
The word master means ‘power, ruler, Lord, owner.’ Louw-Nida: ‘one who rules or exercises control over another.’ Mammon means simply ‘wealth, possessions or prosperity,’ and that covers the gamut of human lust and religiosity.
There are two masters and only two: Christ and Satan. Christ rules the kingdom of heaven, which reigns over the world.
Satan is the prince of this world system, an organized system of tyranny over mankind. Though defeated, your enemy still roars to devour, especially God’s beloved children. Just turn to like the ways and values of the world and you are captured by its master.
But the solution is simple…
