About Let Series
LET. Wielded by the Holy Spirit, this tiny word had a huge impact on Martha’s life, and the adventure can be yours, too, if you just LET God be GOD.
John 16:33 AMPC
I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]
Life and pressure expose what you love and whose love you love. The men who walked closest to Jesus were susceptible to the world’s values.
James and John wanted to call down fire from heaven. Mammon is essentially about power (Luke 9:54).
Judas betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver. Mammon is money and money is power.
Peter denied Jesus for the approval of a few strangers. Selfish ambition is power over people. That, too, is mammon.
After Pentecost when the Spirit brought the indwelling life of Christ, these men were above the world, able to walk IN the world and not OF the world. They even ruled the ruler of the world.
As fallen humanity, we cannot conquer the temptation of this world. The only One pure enough to be immune to the world is our Lord Jesus Christ. IN HIM, we can live in the world yet be ‘not of the world,’ conquering its ruler just as the disciples did, by the indwelling Holy Spirit. By leaning and gazing, looking away from the world unto Jesus, faith in His victory takes over.
