Luke 2:28-29 AMP
Simeon took Him up in his arms and praised and thanked God and said, And now, Lord, You are releasing Your servant to depart (leave this world) in peace, according to Your word.
Simeon, who lived for only one purpose – to see Jesus – was completely fulfilled in his destiny and his personal desire. He was utterly satisfied with God. He wanted nothing more of life.
Spontaneous worship burst from Simeon. The words of thanks on the page are flat but the rich spirit of Simeon rose in worship – probably an ecstasy of glory – to gaze on this longed-for Redeemer. This is the response to a ‘divinely revealed’ Jesus, instantaneous praise to God for such an appearance of Himself.
The Holy Spirit’s own joy over Immanuel enraptured the man who lived following Him (the Spirit).
And it is so now…
